Involving the private sector in the 2030 Agenda: The case of Fair Trade

Involving the private sector in the 2030 Agenda: The case of Fair Trade

How is Fair Trade contributing to sustainable development? What does differentiate Fair Trade from other private sector actors?

Fair Trade is a trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency and respect, that seeks greater equity in international trade. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions to, and securing the rights of, marginalised producers and workers – especially in the South. With this stand, the Fair Trade movement aims to show how donors, CSOs, companies and other stakeholders can engage with Fair Trade through projects and Public and Private Partnerships in order to contribute to the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. In particular, the Fair Trade movement would like to showcase how Fair Trade contributes to sustainable development through EU projects and Public Private Partnerships.
