Despite the existence of international and national laws including affirmative action initiatives, the participation and representation of women in politics and leadership around the world remains extremely low. The Respect for Women´s Political Rights programme (2014 to 2017), aims to improve women's political participation in Colombia, Kenya and Tunisia by safeguarding an enabling political environment where all political rights are upheld.

The programme addresses key constraints women face in their pursuit of a political career and develops practical tools to counter them. This session will present and discuss key recommendations on good and bad practices. Participants will focus on successful strategies that have influenced national gender-equality issues in politics and how to engage men.
