The State of Development Effectiveness

Towards achieving Universal Effective Development Cooperation

The CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE) is currently implementing a three-year programme aimed at making concrete contributions to global development by promoting the universal implementation of effective development effectiveness cooperation (EDC).

Towards this end, CPDE and its members have monitored and evaluated the challenges and progress in fulfilling the Development Effectiveness (DE) principles adopted in the Busan Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation: transparency and mutual accountability, ownership of development priorities by developing countries, inclusive development partnerships and focus on results.

1) Side-event/Forum: June 7, 10-11:30am. Meeting Room L1. From Paper to Practice: How is Europe Measuring up?
The Forum will provide an overview of the gains that CSOs won in the process of the GPEDC 2nd High-Level Meeting, remaining challenges from both engagement and research of CSOs at different levels, and finally how the current trends in EU’s development policy impact progress towards Agenda 2030 if not addressed soon enough. To this end, the Forum will generate potential ways forward.

2) Media briefing: June 8, 10:15-11:00. Room M5. Representatives from CSOs will discuss the unique role of civil society in the development process, give their reactions to the European Consensus on Development, be available for questions from the media.
