This year's cultural programme presented a rich variety of performances including dance, bands and a live sculpture, as well as unique exhibitions. Two innovations in the programme are the EDD Cinema features: Echoes from the Arts (located in the Cinémobile, a truck-cinema of 80 places) and the projection of three FESPACO award winners at the Cinéma Galeries on the evenings of 7-8 June.

StamBeat is a fusion between street dance and Stambali, a healing trance music and traditions linked with the history of black slaves in Tunisia. It merges live music using traditional instruments, digital sounds and voices with street protest dance and Stambali dance rituals.

Serge Diakota, a Congolese artist, will create a sculpture of 1.5 meters in 48 hours, using recycled material. Serge questions the human being, facing the social and political problems from a local and global perspective. He challenges and denounces the social and political realities, searching for universal identity and a positive change.

Echoes from the Arts

Screening in the Cinémobile (Cinema-Truck of 80 places) of short films of established and upcoming artists/filmmakers from latin America, Africa and Europe. Take a break to immerse yourselves visually and artistically into the themes discussed at this edition of European Development Days. Established and upcoming artists/filmmakers from Africa, Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East address migration and mobility, demography and development, domestic resource mobilisation, etc. An initiative of the Centre for Fine arts, Brussels (BOZAR), in partnership with ACP Cultures, Atelier Graphoui, British Council, Ethical Fashion Initiative, Fondation Leila Alaoui, Galeria Continua, Interarts, and Scottish Documentary Institute to highlight the role of artists in our common reflection on human development.

At the FESPACO film festival in Ouagadougou, a joint award was offered by the EU and the Secretariat of the ACP States for the first time. The prize intends to promote the distribution of the awarded ACP films in the official selection and to contribute to their promotion and that of their directors. The award covers the costs of subtitling and/or dubbing of 3 films in several European and African languages and the invitation of the directors to an European festival.

The winning films will be projected at the Cinéma Galeries, Galerie de la Reine 26, Brussels.

A shuttle will go from Tour & Taxis to the Cinéma Galeries at 20:30 on 7 June and at 19:30 on 8 June.
