Rapid vaccination is key to contain the COVID-19 pandemic and enable recovery. For this the EU and WHO implemented their largest ever joint action in Europe in Eastern Partnership countries. In the short term it ensures rapid and safe deployment of COVID-19 vaccines. In the long term it will enhance health resilience by strengthening the routine immunisation systems.
With Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, it became clear that the immediate needs of the health sector in Ukraine and neighbouring countries had changed. Thus, we repurposed €7.8 million to address immediate health needs.
