As a key partner of the European Union, the United Nations is participating in the 2022 European Development Days with contributions from many entities of the UN System.
The EU Global Gateway has a strong potential to advance the SDGs, towards 2030 and beyond. It also has strong synergies with the proposals part of Our Common Agenda, presented by the UN Secretary-General to revive multilateral cooperation for people and planet.
Building on synergies and common objectives, the EU, UN and key partners should strengthen their cooperation and scale up existing efforts to achieve the 2030 Agenda globally and in countries. The UN can offer its convening power, knowledge, and extensive presence and work in the countries to strengthen support to people and governments, in partnership with the EU.
With less than ten years left to deliver the SDGs, we need to rely strongly on the existing capacities and resources established by EU-UN cooperation, scale up work, apply innovative approaches and focus on key drivers of development and sustainable recovery from the many crises affecting humanity.
At the 2022 EDD, the UN will present and discuss how to achieve this renewed impetus in synergy with the EU Global Gateway.
We look forward to welcoming you at UN Stand in the Global Village and in the many sessions organised by the UN family!
