The construction of the wastewater treatment plant in Strumica (5.85 MEUR) was co-funded by the EU through the IPA Operational Programme for Regional Development (2007-2013).

Activities:

  • Design and construction of a wastewater treatment plant
  • Connection of WWTP with electric power and other public utilities
  • Construction of the main collector
  • Transformation or the WWTP into an artistic infrastructure

Results:

54,676 people benefited from the treated wastewater. The quality of water resources, nature and health was increased.

The agricultural production is safer.

Strumica River flows to Bulgaria, thus the project had a positive regional impact on the Bulgarian territory.

The citizens and tourist enjoy unique art paintings while the awareness of the importance of clean water is increased.
