Alianza Shire. Energy Access to Refugees and Host Communities

We are a Spanish partnership that provides sustainable solutions for energy supply in refugee camps

90% of those living in refugee camps around the world have no access to energy. We are a partnership that has been working in some refugee camps in Ethiopia, where badly installed electrical wiring and irregular power supply jeopardize service availability, and the use of wood for cooking and heating causes deforestation.

With the knowledge and expertise of Alianza Shire members, we implemented a pilot project in Adi-Harush refugee camp (Shire, North of Ethiopia), extending public lighting, providing training to refugees and connecting common services. We involved the refugee population and host communities in all phases of the project.
