Yangambi: A landscape fit for a sustainable future

Thriving forests protect biodiversity and people in the Democratic Republic of Congo

Yangambi, located in the northeast of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), is quickly regaining its status as a global hub for the study and conservation of the Congo Basin forests. Thanks to the support of the European Union, this landscape (including a protected area of 235,000 hectares) is proving that the sustainable use of natural resources can become a driver of development by creating green jobs, supporting alternative livelihoods, and reactivating the local economy.
