Forest protection and green economy for a sustainable future

Activities and expertise of German development cooperation around the world

Deforestation causes an irreversible loss to biodiversity, diminishes the effects of climate change mitigation, and threatens the rights and livelihoods of communities living in and around forests. Protecting forests means protecting the basis of life. At present, German Development Cooperation under the lead of BMZ is implementing more than 200 forest projects in 38 partner countries, of which about 80 are in Africa. At their joint Cluster stand, BMZ and its implementing organisations Engagement Global, GIZ and KfW will interactively showcase projects that engage successfully in working towards up sustainable conservation finance and deforestation-free supply chains around the globe.
