Trade supports inclusive and sustainable economic growth

Economic Partnership Agreements: promoting development through trade and investment.

Trade and investment policies, combined with development cooperation and with appropriate domestic policies, are a powerful engine of growth in a sustainable and inclusive manner.

The EU supports the implementation of existing Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) – currently with 7 EPAs covering 31 countries –. The objectives are to foster trade policy capacity, improve business climate and strengthen supply side capacity of the private sector in partner countries. EPAs are already generating success stories that promote job creation, for instance for women and disadvantaged groups in both rural and urban areas.
