Next generation coffee: will you still have your daily cup of coffee in future?

The generational and gender inequality poses sustainability issues in the coffee sector, where the predominantly male  sectors’ farmers are rapidly aging. As for now, the sectors` production capacity is stretched to its limit to satisfy the growing demand of today’s coffee loving millenials which continue to rise to record levels.

Agricord, its member Agri-Agencies Trias and We Effect, CTA, FAO’s Forest and Farm Facility, Farmer Organisations from Latin America and Africa (CLAC Ecuador, Nucafe Uganda, Kipkelion District Co-operative Union Kenya, ANPROCA Bolivia)and coffee companies Ephico and Max Havelaer propose a cluster stand together to present their different experience on engaging women and young farmers in the coffee sector to ensure long term sustainability.
