Does Equality in Peace Matter?

An Examination of the Role of Inequality in Peacebuilding

This session, hosted by the Kofi Annan Foundation and Interpeace presents the report: Challenging the Conventional: Can Post-Violence Reconciliation Succeed?

The panel will introduce and discuss the report findings and its implications for equality as a precondition for peaceful, inclusive, and resilient societies. During the session, participants will analyse reconciliation processes and discuss how inequalities within these processes lead to failures of peacebuilding.

The session will draw on experiences from illustrative cases from around the world, including Northern Ireland, South Africa, the DRC, and Guatemala.
