Employment is key to reducing poverty. Vocational education and training (VET) can equip people with skills in high demand on the labour market. However, many VET systems in developing countries don't cater to the needs of the labour market yet, because they lack private sector involvement in the training and miss linkages to formal and informal businesses. VET is also often inaccessible to vulnerable groups, even though these groups could benefit most from education that increases their employability. The VET Toolbox therefore supports reforms in aid of inclusive and demand-driven VET.
