The key role of girls’ and women's sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development will be discussed with civil society organisations working on SRHR in Africa and Latin America. The State of the African Women report will be presented, focusing on the implementation of the Maputo Protocol on the rights of women and what civil society organisations are doing to promote and protect SRHR. Speakers from Latin America will present the current regional status of the Montevideo Consensus implementation regarding sexual and reproductive rights through lessons learned and local experiences, and the role that young women leaders are playing. Participants will discuss the importance of EU development policies to advance womens’ and girls’ SRHR.
