Please note that the FAQs refer to the 2012 edition of the European Development Days which has already taken place. New FAQs will be published for the 2013 edition closer to the event.

Already Registered?

Issues with badges?

You will need your badge to access the venue. You are requested to wear the badge in a visible manner for the duration of the two-day event. By registering for the event, you will receive an e-mail with a barcode a few days before the event. Simply print out this confirmation e-mail and bring it along to the event, together with a piece of identification (passport, national ID card) to receive your badge at the accreditations desks. The opening hours to pick-up badges are between 08.00 and 19.00 from Tuesday 16 to Friday 17 October.

 

Please note that you will also be able to pick up your badge ahead of the event and avoid the queues by going (with your barcode + passport/national ID card) to the Info Point set up at the Directorate-General for Development and Cooperation (Rue de la Loi, 43-45, Brussels) from 09:00 to 18:00 on Friday 12/10 and Monday 15/10.

Where will the forum be held?

European Development Days 2012 will take place at the Tour & Taxis venue in Brussels, Belgium. For more detailed information and directions please see taking part.

Will car parking be available?

A large guarded car park is available at the venue. A parking ticket costs EUR 4.00 per day.

 

Access & Facilities

Will there be access to the Internet at the event?

Internet access will be provided at the venue.

Does the venue have wheelchair access?

Yes. 

Will there be any food provided at the venue?

Yes, hot and cold food will be available to purchase at the forum and still water will be provided free-of-charge. Vegetarian options will also be available in the restaurant. 

 

The restaurant for participants will be located in the underground level at Tour & Taxis (below the main level where the central EDD12 proceedings will take place) and tables and seating will be provided. Food will be served in the restaurant from 12:00 - 14:00 on both days of the event and a bar serving refreshments and light snacks will be open throughout the event. The bar will be located in 'shed 2' on the main level of Tour & Taxis (next to the listening areas) and will not have seating. Both the bar and the restaurant will accept cash and all major credit cards.

Will there be a cloakroom at the event?

Yes. A cloakroom will be provided at the venue. 

Will students be able to attend the forum?

Unfortunately, due to space limitations, it will not be possible to welcome students to this year’s forum. However, students (and all other interested parties) will be able to follow the forum debates online. All sessions will be webstreamed on eudevdays.eu.

When will EDD 2012 take place?

The forum will take place on 16 and 17 October 2012.

 

Where will the the 2012 edition be held?

European Development Days 2012 will take place at the Tour & Taxis venue in Brussels, Belgium. For more details, please see the venue.

 


 

What will the 2012 Forum be about?

The major topic of the 2012 Forum will be 'Supporting Inclusive and Sustainable Growth'. Under this headline theme, three sub-themes will be discussed:

  1. Sustainable Agriculture, Food Security and Resilience
  2. Empowering People for Inclusive Growth
  3. Engaging the Private Sector for Development

 

Who will visit the 2012 Forum?

Organisations involved in aid delivery, democracy and human rights promotion, including decision-makers, academics, media and private sector representatives, practitioners, NGO advocates, management and procurement officials, operational personnel, and field operatives.

 

Will there be any seminars or workshops?

Yes, there will be a comprehensive programme of High Level Panels, Project-Labs, and special addresses. You can browse the full agenda here.

 

How will registration work?

In 2012, European Development Days will be an invitation only event. Each accredited stakeholder organisation will receive a quota of invitations. Registration is free of charge. For more details, please see taking part

If you require assistance with procuring visas, the European Commission will be happy to provide supporting letters.
